Quick tip

You can follow these steps in order — each one builds on the last. It takes about 15 minutes to get your first real ranking data showing.

Step 1 — Add your first client

Everything in Rankrop is organized around clients. A client is a website you manage or track — your own brand, a customer, or a prospect. Start by creating one.

  1. Open the Clients tab

In the left sidebar, click Clients. Then click + New client in the top right.

  2. Enter the website details

Type the client's name, their main URL (e.g. https://example.com), and choose an industry. These fields help Rankrop contextualize the data.

  3. Click Create

You'll land on the client's overview page. It looks sparse — that's normal. Data populates as you connect integrations and start tracking.

Step 2 — Connect Google Search Console

Google Search Console (GSC) is the richest source of data about how a site performs in Google Search. Connecting it unlocks click, impression, and position data going back 16 months.

From the client overview, click Integrations → Connect Google Search Console, then follow the OAuth prompt to grant access. You'll need to select the correct GSC property once you've authorized.

Step 3 — Add keywords to track

Keywords are the terms you want to monitor in Google search results. Rankrop checks each one daily and records the position so you can see movement over time.

Navigate to your client's Keywords tab and click + Add keywords. You can paste up to 500 at a time. Each keyword can optionally have a target URL (the page you want to rank) and a target position (e.g. top 3).

Step 4 — Generate your first AI content brief

Pick one of your tracked keywords — ideally one with decent search volume but where the site is ranking 11–20. That's the sweet spot where a strong piece of content can push you onto page one.

Go to Content Briefs → + New brief, enter the keyword, and click Generate. Rankrop's AI analyzes the top-ranking pages for that keyword and produces a structured brief in about 30 seconds.

Step 5 — Invite a teammate (optional)

If you work with other people, you can invite them now. Go to Settings → Team and click Invite member. They'll receive an email with a sign-in link. You can set their role to Admin or Member depending on what access they need.

What's next?

Once you have a client set up with keywords and GSC connected, Rankrop starts working in the background — checking rankings daily, pulling GSC data overnight, and alerting you when there are significant changes.

Here's where to go next depending on what you want to do:

  • Technical SEO — Run a site audit to find crawl errors, broken links, and on-page issues.
  • Reputation Management — Connect your client's Google Business Profile to monitor and respond to reviews.
  • Client Portal — Set up a white-label portal so your client can view their own stats without logging into your account.
  • Reporting — Build a branded PDF report and schedule it to send monthly.
First sync takes a few minutes

After connecting GSC and adding keywords, the first data sync runs in the background. Most data appears within 5–10 minutes; full 16-month GSC history can take up to 30 minutes for large properties.
