Prerequisite

You need Owner or Full user permissions on the GSC property. Restricted access accounts cannot grant the scopes Rankrop needs to pull data.

Connecting GSC for the first time

  1. Open a client and go to Integrations

From the client overview, click the Integrations tab (or the plug icon in the left sidebar). You'll see a list of available integrations.

  2. Click "Connect" next to Google Search Console

A Google OAuth popup will open. If it's blocked, check that pop-ups are allowed for this site.

  3. Choose your Google account

Select the Google account that has access to the client's GSC property. If you manage multiple clients, you can connect different Google accounts per client.

  4. Grant the permissions

Rankrop requests read-only access to Search Console data. It cannot make changes to your GSC property. Click Allow to proceed.

  5. Select the GSC property

After authorization, Rankrop lists all properties accessible to that Google account. Select the one that matches your client's domain. If you don't see it, the Google account may not have the right access level.

  6. Wait for the first sync

The initial sync pulls up to 16 months of data. For large properties (millions of impressions) this can take 20–30 minutes. Rankrop will show a "Syncing…" badge while it works.

What you'll see after connecting

Once GSC is connected and synced, the following sections in the client dashboard populate:

  • Overview — Total clicks, impressions, avg. CTR, and avg. position for the selected date range.
  • Performance → Top pages — Which pages drive the most search traffic.
  • Performance → Top keywords — The queries your site appears for in Google Search.
  • Analytics → Countries / Devices — Where and how visitors find you.
  • Keywords → GSC position — If a tracked keyword also appears in GSC, you'll see both the live rank-check position and Google's reported average position.

Reconnecting or switching accounts

If you need to use a different Google account (e.g., a client grants their own access), go to Integrations, click Disconnect next to Google Search Console, then reconnect with the new account. All previously synced data is preserved during a reconnection.

Troubleshooting

I don't see the expected GSC property

The account you authorized must have at least Full user access on the GSC property. Log in to Google Search Console with that account and verify the property shows up at full access level — not "Restricted."

OAuth popup doesn't open

Check your browser's pop-up blocker. Add this site to the allowed list and try again. In Chrome: address bar → pop-up blocked icon → Always allow.

Data doesn't appear after syncing

GSC data has a ~48-hour delay from Google's side — very recent clicks and impressions won't appear even after a successful sync. This is a Google Search Console limitation, not a Rankrop bug.

Tip — Domain vs URL-prefix properties

GSC has two property types: Domain properties (cover all subdomains + protocols) and URL-prefix properties (a specific URL). Rankrop supports both. Domain properties are usually more comprehensive — if your client has one, connect that.
